Close to 70% of energy useage in the UK is used by electric motors. Many of these motors are oversized, thus wasting energy.A variable speed drive can be used to vary the speed of an electric motor to match the demand of the system. When it comes to pumps and fans which are notoriously oversized at the point of design large effeciency gains can be made by slowing down the motor. That is because the power used by a motor is exponentially proportional to the speed. So a small reduction in speed, gives a significant reduction in power. So much so that a 20% speed reduction can give a 50% energy saving.

Lights

Changing your exisitng lighting offer to LED equivalents can give savings due to their increased effeciency and their huge working life (@12hrs a day 10 years+).
